In 1925, Wray was ranked No. 10 in the United States in singles and No. 6 in doubles. He was a member of the Davis Cup squad in 1926 and 1928. He won the Missouri Valley singles championship seven times and doubles title seven times. He was ranked No. 1 in the Missouri Valley nine times. He was a St. Louis District singles champion 11 times. He was runner-up in 1922 for the national intercollegeiate singles title as a player at Washington University.
