Frank Conner is one of only three men in history to compete in U.S. National Championships in both tennis and golf. The others are Ellsworth Vines and Pete Bostwick Jr.

Conner, who grew up over the river in Belleville, Illinois, was coached by Bill Price. He was the U.S. Junior Indoor Champion in 1964, a member of the Junior Davis Cup team, a three-time All-American at Trinity College, and a top singles player in the District and Missouri Valley. He made the draw at the U.S. Nationals at Forest Hills in 1966 and 1967.

Then he picked up a golf club. He worked his way onto the PGA Tour, played in nine U.S. Opens, and competed in many Senior Tour events.

Two sports. Two national stages. One amazing feat.
