Ralph Hart III followed in his father's footsteps all the way to the St. Louis Tennis Hall of Fame. His father, Ralph Hart Jr., got him started in the game early, and by 1966, while he was still in junior high, his ability caught the attention of U City coach Stub Muhl.

Hart won the state singles championship as a senior at University City High School, ranked number two in the Missouri Valley 18s, and led St. Louis to a National City Teams championship playing number one singles. He was part of U City's championship teams in 1967, 1968, and 1969.

He won the father and son doubles title twice with his dad, fellow inductee, Ralph Hart Jr.

He took his game to the University of Florida, where he won the Southeastern Conference singles title in 1970, then transferred to Presbyterian College and became a two-time NAIA All-American.

Back in St. Louis he won five District men's singles championships and reached number one in men's singles and doubles in both the Muny and the District.
