Gene Fluri could beat you alone or with his brother beside him. Usually both. 

At McCluer High, Gene and Tom won a state doubles championship together. At the University of Missouri, Gene went 23-7 at No. 1 singles and the two of them took the Big Eight Conference doubles title, beating Oklahoma in the final. Gene won an American Tennis Association national singles title, and he and Tom took the ATA doubles crown as well. In St. Louis District and Muny play, they claimed multiple men's doubles championships. Gene amassed more than a dozen mixed doubles titles on top of that. 

Whatever the format, if your name was Fluri, you won. 

Then there was the All-Racquets Tournament, a St. Louis competition that spread across tennis and five other racquet sports. It ran for four years. Gene and Tom won all four.
